Unfortunately, there have been several movies that attempted to hastily capitalize on the success of video-games; (without listing names) those films displayed the attitude of “Hey, it’s just a video-game! We don’t really need to take this seriously.” Some of those movies simply appropriated the titles of video-games, and had absolutely no relationship to the stories of the games.

I have not played any of the Prince of Persia video-games, so I do not know if this movie is faithful to the franchise. However, it appears as though the filmmakers have treated the material with respect, and have put much effort into this production.
