I have been in the film business for years and always when it came time to do color correction we wanted to afford doing it on the Davinci. Not only was it ultra expensive to hire an artist who was capable of using one, but the device itself was extremely expensive. When Blackmagic Design bought the company last year I knew CEO Grant Petty had something up his sleeve. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be the Davinci Resolve for $995. I, for one, am picking this up. Add a Tangent panel and you are in business. Of course you need to learn to use the tools but at that price its well worth it to learn!
