Why we love Mocha Pro by Imagineer Systems!

I remember the NAB show a few years back when everyone told me to check out a new company called Imagineer Systems. “They have some planer tracker that is amazing!” I was told. At that time I had no clue what a planer tracker did so of course I was most curious. Their presentation left a standing room only crowd blown away.

Flash forward. No longer does Imagineer Systems spend big dollars on the fancy booths. What they do spend on is making their applications better. They listen to faithful users and create magical products. Their products save all that use them time and money.

Being a sort of neophyte with to tracking and root, I found myself having to accelerate my learning of Mocha Pro. Mocha Pro is dubbed by many as the "ultimate VFX utility" and now I know why. The application is one tool that does many things. It corrects lens distortion, tracks, rotoscopes and much more.

 Remove Please

My significant other was working on a top secret commercial recently and during some previz she shot some video for it. The shot worked but she hated the fact that there was a production assistant standing in the side of the shot. She brought me the video and said the simple words "remove please". I imported the shot into Mocha Pro and began to work. (NOTE: the commercial is under NDA but when its released I will post the screen grab.)

I was able to get most of him out but kept running into problems with one part of the show. What was I to do? Well I imported a part of the removal that had him gone as a clean plate and used it to remove the rest. The final was a wonderful little shot with no PA. It literally took me very little time too. Mocha Pro is fast.

 Inserting logos

At the high school I teach at I let the students try out my Mocha Pro on my macbook pro. The love how easy it is to insert logos onto floors and each others clothing. It really is that simple of a tool. the learning curve is short to get up and running.

Welcome to 3D

I am currently working on a fun project where I am rotoscoping using Mocha Pro. The end result will be a 3D spot and my students are having an "Oh wow" moment as we dissect the various parts of the video and export them into After Effects. What took ages now can be done in moments. More to come on this pet project soon!

Conclusion

Anyone interested in getting into 3D, tracking, removals, roto should become proficient with Mocha Pro. It will pay for itself on its first job. Imagineer Systems has done a tremendous job at keeping this application relevant and will continue to listen to users to do so. I plan on getting a site license for my high school to give students that secret uber tool for their toolbox of the future. It will open their eyes to many creative explorations since they know they can enhance or fix projects with Mocha Pro.
