WASHINGTON -- NAB announced today that the finale of the 2009 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) will take place during the upcoming NAB Show, held April 10-15 in Las Vegas. Titled Filmapalooza, the three-day event will honor the winning films submitted by 48HFP participants in 2009. The competition, established in 2001, promotes filmmaking and creativity by providing filmmakers with a character, prop and line of dialogue and giving them two days to write, shoot and edit their film.
"As the world's largest electronic media event, the NAB Show showcases all aspects of the content lifecycle, including some of the most compelling and innovative technology that is shaping the film industry of today," said Chris Brown, executive vice president of conventions and business operations at NAB. "We are proud that our partnership with the 48 Hour Film Project has been such an excellent fit, and we look forward to hosting an event that has enriched the lives of so many aspiring filmmakers."
NAB Show organizers and the 48HFP launched the 2009 competition during last year's NAB Show. During the 2010 NAB Show, competition winners from over 70 cities worldwide will screen their films for hundreds of viewers and filmmakers. An awards ceremony held Monday, April 12, will honor the winning team with a grand prize of $3000, a Panasonic HPX170 camera and a trophy. Read More→

LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)-- Jan 09, 2010 MOTO Development Group today unveiled a video and photographs of a touchscreen performance test between the Google Nexus One, the Apple iPhone, the Motorola Droid, and the HTC Verizon Droid Eris.
The video and photos of MOTO’s “DIY Smartphone Touchscreen Analysis” experience is available here: http://labs.moto.com/diy-touchscreen-analysis
DIY with One Finger and a Drawing Program
MOTO Development Group created the simple technique so that anyone can evaluate the resolution and accuracy of touchscreen devices before they buy. To conduct the test, consumers open a basic drawing program and draw a few diagonal lines drawn across the screen.
Draw Slowly. On a quality touchscreen, people can draw clean straight lines, even while going very slowly. The image that appears on screen accurately represents the slowly drawn lines. However, on inferior touchscreens, it’s basically impossible to draw straight lines. Instead, the lines look jagged, stair-stepped or zig-zag, no matter how slowly you go. The inferior image results from the sensor size is too big, the touch-sampling rate is too low, and/or the algorithms that convert gestures into images are too non-linear to faithfully represent user inputs.
